Re: Rose Viruses Link
The following link to a 1983 New Zealand Ph.D. Thesis give the most accurate description of the history of rose viruses that I have seen.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The main concept missing is that roses have a temperature dependent virus immune system (which was not known in 1983).

THANKS HENRY! Do you have any further information relating to heat treatment, equipment, methods etc.
I am hopeful of heat treating plants showing RMV this summer. I was going to start at 45C for 30 days then graft buds from that plant onto seed raised Multiflora. Just a little concerned how plants will tolerate those high temperatures.

Re: Rose Viruses Link
Heat treatment and then a bud graft may only reduce the virus concentration below the detection limit of the detection method.

Carole, I can read Henry's link and type in a reply or post. When I click on send up comes the message that it needs to be renewed.
Try typing in a message or post like Testing, testing and hit send. You should see what I am referring to.
As mentioned I am not posting now but when a topic like Henry's appears I'm all over it. His scientific knowledge and breeding started me off pollinating just prior to this forum going on line.

I'll admit to being confused as you've just posted in the thread you said you couldn't post in? Or have I misunderstood?Ozeboy wrote:Carole, I can read Henry's link and type in a reply or post. When I click on send up comes the message that it needs to be renewed.

Bruce what part can't you type in, is it our forum, or one of Henry's links.
I have only just browsed over Henry's links and most are papers to read, not reply, there are some links which have post capabilities
