Tea / China for identification

Found this growing in a garden I work in, dont really know if it is a China or a Tea, growth is pretty lax and thornless except under the leaves.Anyone have any ideas, does'nt get any fungus diseases at all. The colour is very apricoty pink.

Could be. It also sort of Looks like Mrs Mary Thomson. The photo I put on help me find is not real good but its bush is more upright and it has prickles so I guess that is not it.

Whatever it is it is a nice rose.

Balinbear this rose was well and truly in the garden before 1996, when you see the foliage in real life it is so china, very similar in shape and form as Mutabilis , but lighter green foliage. The poor thing is jammed in between a huge Michelia doltsopa and a magnolia, but despite this, it is growing quite well . Might dig it out and give it a bit more sun, think I will see a different rose come summer.

Does the colour vary at all, between deeper apricot-pink combinations and pale? It looks to me quite a bit like my Comtesse du Cayla, which is a wonderfully productive healthy rose but I can't check it for thorns at the moment because it has been raining torrentially here in Sydney for most of the day and the garden is awash.

Took the dogs out for an early run between downpours and came back via the Comtesse. No thorns at all except, as you say, for prickles under the leaves. All the flowers are drowned so I couldn't take a pic. Will try and find an old one later.

Thanx Meryl, went on HMF and scanned through pics of Comtesse du Cayla, I think you are spot on, Could 'nt see any prickles at all on any of the pics and foliage and blooms are the same.

I have been looking at China roses lately because I am ordering roses. As soon as I saw your photo I thought of Comtesse du Cayla ( it is one I am ordering ). Then Meryl solved the mystery. It just shows, some roses have there own special look. And it is nice that it is thornless.

I reckon that first rose looks like a "cold-affected" Shot Silk. You won't find it on HelpMeFind as they don't have it there.

I grow Shot Silk too, in a cold area, and I certainly see what you mean. But I've not seen it do new leaves like the first pic's.

Here's the Comtesse last spring. Not a great photograph, I'm sorry, and I don't seem to have any close-ups. She is now twice the size she was then and still flowering, hasn't stopped. I love this rose.

Looks like Shot Silk, but the leaves are more China-ish. I'd say probably Comtesse du Cayla.
