Bright vermilion single

See in my gallery the photo of Rosa Cockade. This is its working name because I can't find it registered anywhere. You can see the old flowers lose their yellow centres. It is very healthy and flowers all summer. Does anyone have it or know of it?
I have seen names like Cottage Rose and Carnival that have a similar description.

Where does the 'Cockade' come from BD? How come you call it this?

owww! I just typed a reply and then lost it! So here I go again. It will never be as good as the origonal.
My late friend and rose mentor, Les called it Rosa Cockade when he gave it to me. I have found a White Cockade in Search but not this one.
It could be unregistered or it could be a made-up name by whoever gave it to Les or (I hope) it may have a real registered name that I can discover.

I think I know what it is BD!!! I was looking for it ['Cockade'] in Botanica and it wasn't there.... but right near it was a rose called 'Cocktail'. 'Cockade' and 'Cocktail' are similar in the way they sound and may be easy to confuse (way back when...) and the rose known as 'Cocktail' is a single red with a yellow centre that ages to white (according to the photos on HMF). Here's what it says about it:

'Cocktail' is one of the brightest roses available, and although its parents either have double or semi-double flowers, this variety bears brilliant single flowers with only 5 petals. Borne in large clusters continually through summer and autumn, they emerge from pointed buds and are geranium red in colour with a glowing primrose yellow eye. There is a delicate spicy fragrance. This is a vigorous , strong-growing rose clothed with glossy, leathery foliage that is generally treated as a semi-climber; it is suitable for use as a standard or in a shrub border, however, as well as a short climber or pillar rose. The variety is very spectacular because of its unusual intense colour and multitudinous flowers, perfect if a plant is needed to liven up a dismal part of the garden. It can be propagated by budding, and is said to tolerate poor soils.

That sounds very much like it Tas. I can imagine Les having another senior moment and changing Cocktail into Cockade without realising it!
I shall now call it Cocktail!
I am very happy to have the correct name for it at last.

Dee.... I was looking through a book I borrowed from the library on Australian bred roses and there is a rose in there called 'Claret Cup'. This is what HMF says about it: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] . They don't have a photo of it and the photo in the book is not big enough or detailed enough to be of much help. The small photo in the book, however, is a pretty good match as well.

I have looked in most of our books and I am getting the same results as Simon - other names Meimick which would have been its working name.
