"Adam" for a fan-trellis???
I built a series of these fan-shaped trellis structures for the posts on my verandah on which to grow climbing roses. There are 5 in all. On the first I have 'Nahema' and it does a good job and is well suited to the support. On the one next to it is 'Climbing White Iceberg' and it works well but is such a disease magnet that I'm going to shovel prune it today and replace it with another. Next to it is Pierre de Ronsard:
Next to PDR is a young plant of 'William Lobb' and next to that is a young plant of 'Lamarque'.
I have a plant of "Adam" in a pot that I'd like to plant out and was wondering whether its growth habit suits a structure like this. I want it to fill out like PDR has. I have a few others that I can put in there instead but this was my first choice because I really want to get it in the ground.
What do you think? Will it fill in or does it grow to thinly, because so far I have been 'underwhelmed' by the density of Teas growing in Tasmania?

Re: "Adam" for a fan-trellis???
Our "Adam" is like a lot of teas and resists any structure suffering dieback where it is tied or twisted about a support. It also resents being pruned to the extent that we will probably dig it out and get another one and plant it where it will not need pruning.

Re: "Adam" for a fan-trellis???
Ours is just grown as a self supporting rambler type. Unfortunately we planted it to close to the edge of the garden and it needed cutting back which it has resented.
I love the rose and before it was cut back it was always in flower with lots of blooms. Now it is just a few blooms now and then with a lot of dieback where it has been pruned.

Thanks for the help Gary... I'll put one of the other climbers I have in there instead and find a better place for "Adam".

Watch out for that Lamarque! Just about my favourite rose and I have it in Sydney and the mountains. But it gets BIG.
