Is Cicely unwell? Empty Is Cicely unwell?

Hi all,
I planted Cicely Lascelles about 9 mths ago, straight away some stems started dying back, these were trimmed to near normal tissue, and she has slowly grown since, although nowhere near the vigour of adjacent roses such as Nancy Hayward and some noisettes.
Recently the leaves on some stems are curling and looking "not right".Questions:
Should I remove her?
Could the initial die back be Viral and not just environmental stress,as the nursery suggested?
Does anyone have experience/knowledge of Rose Wilt virus?
Cheers,
Stephen

Rose wilt is thought to be caused by a virus but this hasn't been proven (though is strongly suspected). This may sound strange but do the leaves on your CL curl upwards or downwards? Rose Wilt is characterised by downward curling leaves as well as drooping leaves. You'll also tend to notice poor leaf colour. You are near Wiseman's Ferry somewhere aren't you? Does it get real cold there? Do your Noisettes/Teas/China etc go fully dormant there? If I saw a rose like that down here at this time of year I'd be leaving it until spring and seeing how it went and if the new growth in spring was still poor I'd bin it. If yours grow actively all year then maybe you can make that call now.

Our Cicely's have a lot of dieback but thye seem to send out new shoots when needed. They have nice flowers but struggle a biit.

I spoke to Susan Irvine about the rose as she had a couple that were not growing all that well. I got the impression it is not an all that good rose.

Thankyou for your help.
I think the leaves curl upwards,no loss of colour.
The garden is fairly well sheltered and the noisettes and other alister clark roses still have flowers, may just be a lousy plant.
It may be hard to draw exact conclusions so I may pull it out and put in on a distant horse paddock fence and see what happens.
Many thanks to an excellent forum,I hope I can be a more regular contributor as my time and knowledge permits.
