I wrote a long answer here Simon and forgot to click on "send"!
The mis-labelled irises were from Impressive irises, but it might not be their fault, it could have been me. I can match up a couple with the right names but this one I've no idea about. Oh well it's not that important I guess, an iris by any other name....................

I did my first bearded iris cross for the year tonight too. All the ones I did last year failed... worked out why too... I was putting the pollen on the wrong side of the stigma.. very confusing. I pollinated the one above ('Mountain Violet') with 'Cat's Eye' and 'Hussy'. Apparently if you cross a dwarf with a tall you get median beardies... I'd like ot try making some small ones Smile For anyone interested in doing this the best guide I have found is here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I've got this one too Simon, and it's at the same stage as yours is. Not as many buds as yours though.

Oh they're all gorgeous!
I lost a few in all the wet we had this year, just in the more shaded part of the garden. The thing that surprises me is that the ones in pots are doing better than the ones in the ground.
I love some of the crosses that Letitia has made. (Or Leticia)

Yes... she's got some lovely ones hasn't she.. I lost a few in the wet too.. the potted ones are doing very well. I've just got them in garden soil in the pots too. I don't know which ones I've lost yet until the ones that are left flower... labels got mixed up a bit when I moved a bunch last year.

A pretty colour Carole - Yellow irises are lovely. Gee they're doing well in that box! One of the owners of the iris farm was amazed that mine are doing well in pots - he'd be even more amazed if he heard about your styrene box!

Carole, is that near-white one of yours from Impressive Irises? If so I have one from there called 'April Fog' that is a dead ringer for this one. I think I'm going to email the previous owners of Impressive Irises and ask if they could send me a CD of their flowers that I can host here for people to use for ID purposes.

Val, WS is an amazing plant too... I reckon it will be few more days before any new ones are out but I'll keep them coming Thumbsup

Come on guys... keep em coming Cool

That would be excellent if you could get a CD of their irises. It would be a big help.

This is a photo list of my TBI... It's almost complete I think Rolling Eyes The littlies I put on a differet doc. A lot of these came from Impressive so might help out in the mean time. They had hundreds of different ones though so this is barely scratching the surface.
