Can we go to Woolmers?
Can we have a Rose Talk day at Woolmers National Rose garden near Longford this coming Nov/Dec? I didn't have the energy to go last year when it was suggested and I was sorry. But this year I'll take my walking stick and camp stool and I'll be right!
And, would it be a nice idea to maybe have a picnic under the big oak trees too? We don't all have to do that though if we don't want to.
I would love to have a day with all you Tasmaniacs rushing round the roses.
And maybe there might even be a mainlander or six turn up too! That would be wonderful!!
There could even be some international Rose Talkers?
I am breathless at the possibilities

Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
Starting to look like a party! Simon, Ripley, Abbi and me, and all near and dear that we bring with us........ what a lovely start.
The trick will be to time it right so we get to see the best of the spring flowering. What month did you go last year Ripley?

Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
Dee... remember when we went... that was November from memory... it was pretty flush then
Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
hmm..from memory early February I think. Most of the moderns were all still going strong if maybe in need of a good deadheading, the species and spring bloomers were long gone. Only the odd Westerland on the walkway.

Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
My estimation is the last week in Nov to the first week in Dec will give us te best show. Would it be ok by everybody to work towards that?

Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
Sok with me, but could we make it a weekend if possible to greater my chances of not having to work. Failing that a monday or tuesday. If I get in quick enough I might be able to organise working the weekend before so will have those 2 days off.

Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
Abbi and I have been plotting. We have decided that someone needs to make a decision so we have decided that we are going to Woolmers on Saturday 28th November because that is a good time to go.
That is two weeks away.
We hope we can get around it all in the morning and then rush over to the other garden at Hadspen (the name has left me for the moment) in the afternoon.
Can we hope for some Rose Talk company? Simon? Ripley? Blossom? for one or both gardens?

Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
I'm taking a class of mine SCUBA diving on the 25th and 26th and this is my last major event for the year... so the 28th sounds good so far

Thats a shame Ripley. Hope you can get someone to swap with you.
Good that you are free to come, Simon.
I've never seen Woolmers, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Re: Can we go to Woolmers?
Very sorry about that Ripley but Abbi and Co have another engagement this weekend.Ripley wrote:Any reason we couldnt make it next weekend?
Although......
because we have booked accomodation for the 28th we will still be up your way the next day. That has been a very recent development.
If we changed the Woolmers visit to Sunday 29th would that make it possible for you Ripley and you Simon and Co to come?
We can easily visit Entally House on the Saturday, just swapping the gardens around.
