Niphetos

I understand this thread won't have many legs, but. I know there is always a but. 

Is there any thoughts on what it could be Gary ?. I have been looking at it for a while and tried to purchase it last year, I was to late, so it is on my very early list for 2015 amongst more. Anyone else grow this, 'Niphetos'

Below are a couple of photos of the rose we were told is Niphetos. It bears a strong resemblance to photos shown on HMF and the lady whose garden we "rescued" it from told us that is what she purchased it as but with a lot of the older roses there is a lot of confusion and mislabelling that has resulted in roses being sold under an incorrect name.

The Tea Rose book refers to it as being reintroduced into commerce in 1980 from Australian sources but its identity is in doubt.

The one we have has grown strongly since we shifted it. We dug it out in July and put it in the paddock for a couple of months while the renovations were done in the garden. We cut it back again before we shifted it into its new location and it really has not looked back or stopped flowering since then. No sign of mildew or blackspot.

The photo does not show it but there is a touch of lemon in the centre of the flowers

The bush is about 600-800 high and a bit wider. Lots of foliage and new buds

Thanks Gary, I think it should make a good shape/form. I had thought of possibly "trying" to breed with it. How is the repeat of it and to your and Lee nose does it have any fragrance ?

The perfume is there, not overly strong though it is easily disenable. It's been hot up here and in cooler areas I suspect it would be a lot stronger. It is a typical citrus tea scent.

Ours never seems to be without a flower so it repeats quite well though it may be that you don't notice it when there are no flowers but it definitely repeats well.

It was used in the breeding of the Tea Mrs Herbert Stevens and according to the Tea Ladies our rose may in fact be Mrs Herbert Stevens. We have had that rose here in the past but it never survived and the flowers were not as large as our "Niphetos". If you have the Tea Rose Book have a look at Mrs Herbert Stevens.

Thanks Gary, yes I have that book in the rose library, it gets referred to lots of time.
I will look around, I assume Mrs H S is available, it would be interesting to see the two plants side by side.
