Seasol and Powerfeed

Was wondering what is the best dosage for combining Seasol and Powerfeed say per 10lt. Have searched the net for answers but nothing has stood out as a confident answer and thought maybe someone here is combining the two and has a better idea than me as to how best to combine them without over doing it.

Would there be any difference for potted roses over not potted?

Brett, can I first ask why the combination use ?

I have read online that the combination has some really good results but have been unable to get the dosage from the same. David I have contacted Seasol and am awaiting a reply but am also interested to hear from others who have tried it.

My guess no one has done this, hope they get back to you, will be interesting to hear thier comments, please post when they do.

Me personally.....I would put the correct proportion of powerfeed in the 10ltr container and throw in a litr of seasol. Seasol is organic and tooooo much won't hurt or burn your plant. I found this out as a junior gardener where I didn't read on packet that it was concentrated and used it straight with no repercussion...

IMO I would add to 10 litres of water the amount the label says for both seasol and powerfeed, this I think you may find that is what the manufacture will recommend.

I would use the manufacturer's recommended dosage for both products in the same container.

I received a reply from Seasol as follows: "Thank you for your email. Use 30ml of Seasol and 50ml PowerFeed (concentrated products) in your watering can (approx. 9 – 10lt) this can be applied every 2 - 4 weeks during the growing Season. To keep it simple, the cap on our concentrated products is approximately 10ml, so 3 caps of Seasol and 5 caps of PowerFeed." So yes just follow the instructions on the product.

From what I have googled the results of using the products together has been very good. From Orchids to vege gardens and of course our roses. The seasol looks after the root system and reduces the effect of any stresses occurring and the powerfeed supports a better result above the ground.

I have also contacted another chap who swears by these combined products and asked how he uses them as he has mentioned on line some great results.

That's good to know Brett. I have been combining the two, but seem to be under dosing compared from the instructions above. The roses are growing well tho and I have been giving the same amount to the potted as well as the ones in the ground. Will increase the amount and see how they go.
My question is, with that amount in a 10 ltr watering can. How much would you give each rose?

I tend to water slowly so with pots it has time in the pot rather than flow straight through. At times I use say half the watering can on each potted rose and depending on how dry it has been I will return with another half watering can 10 or so mins later. I guess you really can't give a potted rose too much but some would be wasted if too heavy handed.

I've always used Seasol for various uses one being regularly on newly planted bare rooted roses. I was wondering whether I could use a Powerfeed Seasol combo. Normaly I wouldn't use fertiliser so early in the season.

We use seasol when planting to get the roots going. Powerfeed has more potassium in it for better flowers so using it when first planting does not really make much sense.

Your right Ausrose. I had read how good the combo was during the season. In the past I have used Seasol for bareroot or transplanting roses and Powerfeed during the flowering season but now I will combine the two for what I hope are even better results.

I picked up a litre of Powerfeed today, and the NPK ratio was 8:3:1........ not much potassium in that....more in thrive and aquasol....

W/V: Nitrogen (N) 12.0%. Phosphorus (P) 1.4%. Potassium (K) 7.0%

I think the rate is low for the Phosphorus. The Potassium could be a bit higher for stem/flower production in my mind.

Thats great info Thanks !! ...as I realise now Im not putting enough powerfeed as well ...I was doing equal amounts into my 9ltr but I was adding my worm juice as well. Im the same I dont combine the two until the leaves really start to show on old plants giving plenty of time for roots to develop.
