Well betsy, imo, with no scent I would lean towards
Pascali, just a guess.

Pascali is fragrant, so I would consider rethinking this IMO

Betsy not to disagree with "reports", it "Pascali" was used for many years in arrangements and weddings because of the 'fragrance' again I could be totally wrong. Memory tells me that in our poly tunnels with around 600 plants of it, which went to florists directly in the Sydney basin, it was their choice at the time, don't forget I am talking back in 1990.

Not too happy to call  it a Pascali......

I was thinking along the lines of Caroline Victoria rose

Okay, we don't think it's Pascali. Caroline Victoria is too exotic, I think, for former owners, who weren't really into roses. I believe they just acquired the five roses  from a local nursery. There's one that looks like Gold Bunny, another that I bet is Apricot Nectar, a pink one which is unremarkable, and this white. You don't suppose it's Iceberg, with a bit of weather-variation tinges, do you? Friend is hoicking out the others, might keep the white one.

In any case , I will await any further info when rose blooms again, and friend can check more diligently for scent. Apparently it opens rather fast.

In my experience 'Iceberg' comes with black spot. That is why I think it is not 'Iceberg'. What diameter is the flower and what colour is say 3 year old wood. On this years wood, are there thorns.

I will ask. Should be able to get answers to two of the three questions; I doubt that friend would recognise three-year old wood on a rose she's met only 6 weeks ago I know I wouldn't .

And here are answers:

We are wanting diameter of flower when fully open? This is approx 9cm.

As you expected, I cannot be sure which is 3-year-old wood. Anything that isn't this year's is ... wood colour. Grey-brown (mostly grey). Or would they like me to cut through an older branch and report on internal colour?

On this year's wood, there are most definitely thorns. Ouch.

There is certainly a bud union; not own-root.

I have a cold. The best I can report is that there is a scent, but bear in mind we currently have only two blooms, and both are past their best. The scent seems relatively mild.

'Iceberg' does not carry many thorns, flower size to me is to big. As for cutting old wood, no the objective was to see if it was grey and rough to the feel, but not 'flaky'
