Question for Neptune about soil ...
Neptune i just thought i would ask , that seeing you try out a lot of roses and delete a lot , how do you go soil wise , are the roses in beds and if they are , do you dig out the old soil and replace it or are they in pots , thanks

Re: Question for Neptune about soil ...
yep....always looking for perfection on the bench.....
what I do is get a non waxy cupboard box....not excessive big.....place the new flower inside the box and backfill with new soil.....no pots......
all the roses are in beds, and I try to feed the soil with natural products, instead of chemical fertilizer pellets.......try to stay organic.......synthetics are short term and have their place, but you must remember to feed long term not short instant term...
the beds are dedicated beds....no weeds(they rarely grow in my beds ie: in a 12mth period , I might pull a dozen weeds)........my beds are bordered by Mondo Grass and I am using a vey mature compost as a mulch(if it doesn't feed the soil, its not a goer....ie: its there to feed the soil and better it, which in turn will feed the flower)
anything else...just ask away....

Re: Question for Neptune about soil ...
I went and got a mature age compost, commercially made. I don't have the space to make up and store compost....
