Sudden Impact and Dogs Empty Sudden Impact and Dogs

Post by paulh 19th August 2013, 21:59

Hi peoples, this may have been mentioned before, so forgive me for repeating if it has.

Our Rhodesian Ridgeback got access to our rose garden on Friday, and had a bit of a feed on Sudden Impact. Unfortunately she had severe diarrhea for 2 days, however today she's back to normal. So I guess I just want to warn people that this sought of thing can occur, Sudden Impact and dogs just don't mix. So just be careful with your canine friends, Our dog 99% of the time does not have access to that part of the yard, not again i can assure you.

Poultry manure tends to have that effect...

My dogs don't show much interest in Sudden Impact. I make sure I cover it with a bit of mulch. Dynamic Lifter is a whole other story though, so I don't use that. As the dogs have access to the whole garden, I'm very conscious of things they can get into.

That's very interesting Paul and Silky. On another note, snail pellets aren't too good either! I use to "safe" ones, but still keep an eye on things! Dogs .... you can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em!! LOL

I'm too scared of using snail pellets, after the dog next door died after getting poisoned. I'd rather lose some blooms. Still it's a pain when slugs and snails wreak their damage. I used to use beer traps but just be bothered now.
Yeah Sue, I agree, can't live without dogs!

Have you tried used coffee grounds? Seems to work sometimes. Must be the different brews!

I'm a tea drinker so no coffee grounds here. Just a thought... Does anyone know if tea leaves are of use in the garden?

shouldn't be a problem as you use tea leaves to make compost and it is organic.......

Dogs love Blood and Bone. One of our Border Collies demolished a whole bag one day. He had a smile on his face for a week.

My dog will eat almost anything, horse manure, lumps of chook manure and her own. She doesn't eat Sudden Impact but loves Seamungus. She does love Blood and Bone and seems to cope with all these internally.

The Vet and I were filing a horses teeth here one day and he mentioned it seems to be part of a healthy dogs diet.

I always loved the 'Footrot Flats' cartoon where Wal calls The Dog disgusting for eating sheep manure and the dog declares "I'm recycling". So true. Mine, of course, have access to a fair bit of sheep manure (lamb being the favourite, mmmm milky goodness! Sudden Impact and Dogs 15745376  )
