Pot Feet

Well, I've bought plastic pot feet from Bunnings in the past, and may I say it is an expensive exercise. So I started cutting up small squares of timber to use, however she who has to be obeyed didn't like the look of that. So I came up with another idea, I wouldn't be surprised if someone has done the same. I went to the kitchen cupboard and grabbed a couple of spare cutting boards, the nylon plastic sort, with one being half the thickness as the other. Sawed them into a rectangle shape and drilled a whole in one end, just for the look. The two sizes help to balance out the pot if the ground is uneven, so there you have it, because of what they are made of they won't disintegrate.

Well done Paul, clever idea. Can you tell me the advantages of having the pot raised a bit? Apart from improving draining capacity.

Air flow comes to mind and as Paul has his on concrete/pavers reflective heat.

OK I get that. Would the gap allow earwigs and other grubs to find their way in?

Roseman gave the right reasons why i raise my pots. I dont have any problems with earwigs etc.

Thanks Paul. Since I have only ever had roses in pots as a temporary measure, my knowledge of pot culture is minimal.

also having them raised, stops the staining of the pavers underneath....I have mine raised on wheels so that I can jush move them around at any time....

Wheels are great idea if you have a level surface. Saw a great contraption about a year ago on TV, in which an adjustable little stand goes under the pot and this ultra lightweight "trolley"s prongs fit under and can then be wheeled to wherever you want. I looked for it here but was told it was a NSW thing.
