Bearing in mind the weather has turned a little milder. Cool at nights and not over 30c at the moment. The first few flowers - when it was hot weather - didn't have as much pink in them.

Looks more like "Octavus Weld" than Rubens but I want to check those thorns before I'd be certain.

Our OV is also nearly white in hot weather.

It looks very much like the OW photo in the Tea book (pg 162). Rubens doesn't seem to get the quilled cactus dahlia look about it.

I think I need to buy this Tea book.... ! Smile
The petals do get a bit of a point on them. Similar to DA's 'Grace'.

PS. David - so are you adding it to the list? Wink I can send you a few small bits in winter... LOL

OW is very variable- sometimes cream, sometimes pink: and the quilling comes and goes. The Tealadies say that Teas are very responsive to weather changes, sometimes doubling (or more) their petal count. Some proliferate at times - Mlle Franziska Kruger does it a lot. (Ie tries to produce a new bud in the middle of a flower).

Yup. Usually any of my carpet wool* that gets overlength. Or the "enriched" stuff. Wink Both grades are unsaleable in the normal arenas.... Worms love it. Originally I started using as a summer mulch because I thought it may be less combustible... Smile
