"Paloona Dam Rd Pink" Foundling

Starting an ID file for this foundling too. Found literally in the middle of the bush on an old bush track on Paloon Dam Rd, Tasmania (let and long recorded but not published). I am thinking some kind of damask or centifolia. Was growing with another rose that was easy to ID called 'Leda' (aka the Painted Damask'). Flowers on this one are a clear crisp pink. Will post some as they open. Only buds at the moment. Bush was very tall though it was growing in a blackberry thicket and fighting for light. Canes are quite long and willowy here too. I have three plants all budded to multiflora rootstocks; one in the ground and two potted.

I was just looking at the pic of the bud, if you stuck a moss on it guaranteed fantastic mossing would occurr.

Yep - at this point I am thinking it might be Rosa x centifolia (aka Cabbage Rose). Perfume is strong and heady.

First flower here... very double, opens flat, no anthers, very perfumed!

Definitely not 'Leda' but a beautiful rose nevertheless!

No... not 'Leda'.. I didn't think it was I also grow 'Leda'... I think this rose wants to grow as a climber even... long lax canes... really healthy and strong.

I just got an email from Patricia Routley suggesting this rose might be 'Paul Ricault'. Does anyone grow PR that could post some photos of the parts I have shown above for comparison? The flower is a great match, and so is the habit. I'm not sure about the leaves though.

It looks like a common foundling in SA that we call "Birdwood", which sets hips. Paul Ricault (aka "Mrs Bushby's Bourbon" in Tas, and various other study names) is lighter pink in my garden, although digital photos can struggle with this colour range, and doesn't set hips. Does this foundling?

This is the first time it has flowered for me and I noticed no hips at the bush location where it was found. It has no anthers so would need to accept cross-pollen to form hips. It seems to have a fully functional set of stigma. The colour if the flower is accurate. I don't use point-and-shoot digital cameras. I use a dSLR which has faithful reproduction of most colours when the maual settings are adjusted.
