Re: Chicago Peace Maybe?
someone here will no doubt be able to help me identify this rose.
It was growing at the house when I moved here two years ago, and I suspect it is Peace or Chicago Peace. Am I right?

I may have omitted a reduction step in the process of uploading a photo, so I will have another attempt. Here is another shot of the rose I am identifying as Chicago Peace.

Re: Chicago Peace Maybe?
Well I'd almost say 100% that it is not Peace . The top pic i would have said looks a bit too salmony in colour for CP but if the bottom pic is of the same bush , well then it just might be . I have plenty of pix of my Chicago Peace[it's a very photogenic flower] but they are not on this computer .... will have a look and see if I can find a comparison pic for you.
cheers. Rosaie

Chris, this is not a reply to your rose, rather a rap for the shot of the rose it's self, love the first one with water on it, keep them coming.

Re: Chicago Peace Maybe?
Welcome, Chris! Looks like Chicago Peace. Are the blooms really big?

Re: Chicago Peace Maybe?
Rosaie, yes the photos are of the same rose (just taken a year or so apart!) In real life they come out as a classic bud shape, then unfurl with shades of pink rose on the top and yellow at the bottom - I think. They do appear to fit all the photos I have seen of CP elsewhere.
Dave, they are quite big...they can be 15cm across. The bush is vigorous, and requires a lot of regular light pruning to keep it in bounds.

Chicago Peace Maybe?
Identifying rose based on the flower alone is a risky business. Flowers can change dramatically throughout the year and throughout the range within which it is grown. When trying to ID roses it is best to take a range of diagnostic photos (with that sweet 100mm macro you have ), of features that show less variation. These features include the leaves (old, middle-aged, new), thorns, stipules on the leaves, the shape of the hips, if any, the shape of the flower's receptacle, the flower at various stages (some roses age in a very specific way), etc. Then these can go into the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] forum where you can open a 'case file' on the rose over time. This has been very successful for me over the years. For your rose, the flowers look like 'Chicago Peace' but it could be a range of roses.

"My" computer is still under going brain surgery so I haven't got all my photo files available but this is a pic of a flower on one of my Chicago Peace bushes Chris. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Yes!! That's my rose. When I have time I will do as Simon says (I bet you are sick of hearing that one!) and take the required series of shots.
