Beautiful little seedling

This is a new one I'm loving this little one. Flower looks like 'The Fairy' except the stigmas in the middle are more prominent. This is its second flower and look at all those buds!

It's 'Temple Bells' x something... most the labels on this rose were eaten by slugs last season so all I can tell you is that its seed parent is 'Temple Bells' and it was crossed with something else In the end who cares!!! It's lovely!

With any luck it is going to be a miniature groundcover type rose. Health and vigour so far are excellent.

Actual flower size is about 3-4cm

Great little rose there Simon, it will only get better as it gets older, you have to use the aluminium strips like i do , those slugs wont get their little fangs into those

I have Warren. They work great. I just cut up a coke can and used the inside. I don't drink soft drink and very rarely bring beer home to drink (in fact I can't remember the last beer I had) so aluminium was in short supply. Thankfully my farer half has shares in Coca Cola and single handedly keeps the Tasmanian end of their business afloat, so by coincidence we had a few around when you mentioned it.

You know... I did have one problem with the aluminium tags!!! My chooks find the flashing tags in the sun just too tempting

Very nice seedling, worth all the effort. I have also changed over to using aluminium tags made from drink cans due to an earlier post of Warrens.

They seem to work OK and are a lot cheaper than the composition tractor tags.

Do prefer something looking more professional for adult roses but for babies they are great.

What i use for the more mature roses is roof aluminium flashing, cut into strips and the hole at the end punched out with a paper punch. They are a little thicker so you will have to press a little harder when writing the name. With all my young ones over the years a would hate to think how many aluminiun tins i have cut, thank god I know some drinkers because I dont really touch the grog or soft drinks very often

Bruce, must send you a 'template' of the aluminimum tags I got from Hedgerow Roses, they sell them at 10cents each and come complete with copper tie wire. All you do is place the tag on newspaper and write on it with an empty biro.

I'm hoping the sturdy prominent stigmas will also mean this one will be a good seed parent in the future too. Fertility seems to be an issue with the 'Temple Bells' crosses. So far I have not found any pollen.

Dave, I'd love to try Lady H and Anna Olivier at the moment. I have enough understocks to bud them as soon as they arrive. What were the other things we were talking about (I forget )... PM me about it
