Rosa Rugosa
Just a querry on this book, "Rosa Rugosa" by Suzanne Verrier, Charles Steinberger, Photographer. ISBN 0913643076.
Originally published by Capabillity's Press, now published by Firefly Books.
Has anyone got this book or read it. I can purchase it via USA from $1.00 to $150.00, plus post
The other related reason for this post is does anyone know of other books on this subject, "rugosa's".
Thanks in advance, David.

Re: Rosa Rugosa
I had a quick look at the book on ABE books, David, and I don't think it would hurt to purchase it. I mean, you can't go wrong for $1 can you
On another note, we are always buying bits and pieces for our roses and books seem to feature highly in the pist of paraphernalia that we acquire. What do you think of a forum 'chapter' on rose literature? We could list books we have with short descriptions or do the same for newly acquired books.
Something to think about.

Simon, you know me well enough, I would go for it, My one thought would/ could this mean we lend books (maybe) like I did to Dee and only, each other pays the postage. I might have got your post wrong correct me if I am. This also would give some people the chance to look before buying.

Re: Rosa Rugosa
I suspect most members of this forum pounce on rose-related books, second hand or newly released, the moment they spot them. Would love a review section, if only as an alert to what's out there.
David, I think the book you mention has been stocked over the past few years by Florilegium, a wonderful specialist gardening bookstore in Sydney with a knowledgeable and helpful proprietor. Anyone visiting Sydney should drop in. Not sure if they still have this book. I think I saw it on the bargain table at their last sale. I didn't buy it because it was so specialist and because I think it struck me as a bit slight.
Florilegium's website is a bit basic still (you can't yet search the entire catalogue) but you can browse seasonal catalogues....

Re: Rosa Rugosa
Hi David. I wasn't really suggesting you get it from Florilegium because I doubt they could beat $1!...Just thought people might like to know about a good bookshop.

Re: Rosa Rugosa
It is ok Meryl, thought I would give them a chance, I have purchased from them before. A book at a $ sounds good, but what condition. The idea of a single variety of rose came from a long back and forth email session with Laurie Newman years gone by. Also with our very own Larry(Lozza)

Re: Rosa Rugosa
I have bought my book "Rosa Rugosa" for $26.95 delivered to Mudgee from Florilegium in Sydney. It is the Firefly print not the Capabillity print. Not to worry. It is new. On arrival I might be missing from the forum for a day or 2 as I will have to read it front to back, Then some rose breeding will come about, that is the reason for this book. Thanks to all that helped.
