I'm off to build an ark!
If I have any roses left after this week it will be a miracle I've not seen rain quite this heavy and settled in for a long time! So much for all my pollinations... how is everyone else faring with the flooding?
Re: I'm off to build an ark!
Sorry to hear about your great flood Simon. Here in the Sydney burbs we have had quite sufficient but not as much as the country areas of NSW which are under flood ATM. Whilst I am thankful for the rains we have had, I was also thankful that I got to enjoy the spring flush in mid October - kind of awakened my desire to plant more in the back, which of course I now have.
I hope this rain will be worth it for you and everyone else who is getting more than they currently desire.

Not so much a problem for me here.. I'm 180m above sea level here It might stop me from getting to work in the morning.. which would be a shame I saw Mudgee was copping it. I hope David is doing OK... and Karen too...

Looking at the step on the tractor going to work, when I came home it had risen to the door/floor of tractor. At the cornera bit over 1 metre deep.
We are drying out at present, but they are saying upto 100mL in the area over next couple of days. Karen is ok, if the weather holds off we will be going out to see her "BUT" the road to her goes under very quick., Everyone enjoy the pictures.

Re: I'm off to build an ark!
Well - the good news is all my tanks a full.
The bad news is several of my rose beds look like some of the pictures above. Don't roses look lovely sitting in pools of water ....I knew I had a few drainage problems in a particular area that I would sort out over my holidays this Xmas with some Ag.drains. Looks like the rain beat me to it.

Benny is ok, Bernhard. He was the first to be moved to high ground. Where he was got to about 300ml deep. Gave him some long grass to eat and a wild cherry to prune, also a peppercorn tree to keeep out of the rain so he could have some cover from the rain.

I'm relieved to see you're still posting, David. After the news last night, I was worried that your river would rise just too far.

Re: I'm off to build an ark!
Yes... it's been dry here the last few days... Last Sunday was our last rain. I'm hoping ot stays away for a while too.
Re: I'm off to build an ark!
Actually I am thinking of applying for drought releif funding. It has not rained here since about 4AM and the forcast is for no more rain until the moderate to heavy falls that we are supposed to get later today.

Re: I'm off to build an ark!
The place is a mess, I have not been to work for the last couple of days and we are cut off at present but we are not to bad. Nothing like those poor people in Toowoomba etc.
We seem to be in the same band of rain that Toowoomba etc copped yesterday. I have lost track of the amount of rain we have had it but must be nearly 1 metre in the last week.
The roses are surviving quite ok and I am sure some are growing in water. A lot of our other plants have not made it though.
