Ohhhh.... ok... at the bottom of the first page there is a Chatbox link. You just click on the link 'Join the Chat' and when the new window opens you log in (top left corner) and you are away. The pace you type in is white box in the bottom right corner. Wish I could make that bigger and more obvious but it seems to be a non-customiseable part of the software.
