John, as there is nothing else going on, thought I might start this off with 6 weeks to go.
First off we leave home(Mudgee)

Re: We are going on Holidays
The why is easy, Holidays, to leave our Winter behind for six weeks.
Then catch a plane to Changi Airport. then Heathrow, then Aylesbury.
Then the Eurostar to Paris France.
And other places, maybe Spain.

Re: We are going on Holidays
Ooh how exciting David!! I could definitely use some warm weather about now Very jealous!
Gary, my little sister and I, along with my mum and her husband, are going to Europe in April-May 2017 too, to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. We are planning on doing a tour of Cornwall's gardens. As I've never been to Europe, I might stay on a bit with my sister and visit France too. I am dying to visit the gardens of Notre Dame d'Orsan priory! It's more an edible garden than a rose garden, but it looks so so amazing.
Perhaps if the dates line up we could meet up in France for a baguette? Heh.

Re: We are going on Holidays
Zoe, Cornwall/ Southampton is on the itinerary as well, my mother came from there so I reckon I should go and have a look.
I do hope both yourself and Gary are going more towards May rather than April, can be a bit chilly still then from one of our trips to England for a family wedding.

Re: We are going on Holidays
Thanks David. We really have no idea so if anyone can tell us the best time. I guess Lee went to England in July-August so maybe that is a better time.

Re: We are going on Holidays
Yes Gary, July - August is the best time to go. That is why we are going at that time.
I doubt you will see many or any roses in April - May they tend to start in June.
I hope this helps.

Re: We are going on Holidays
Urgh. What was that Shakespeare guy going on about "the darling buds of May" for then? I assumed he spoke the truth, but I see now he was just using poetic license!

Re: We are going on Holidays
Right! Go in June! The roses have just started to bloom and everything is fresh - including the weather!! LOLOL No, seriously, June is a good month, you don't get too many tourists and the children haven't broken up for the Summer holidays yet! Weather isn't bad either - for the Northern Hemisphere.
