Re: Feeding of Roses
Dennis, I am so pleased you have started your Worm Farm. I have 2 and I just love them, they are my little babies, but they are getting bigger everyday as I give them a fattening feast that I make up each week. I have actually never used Worm Juice as a Foliage Spray on Roses, so I think I will try it this week.
Thanks Sue for your input regarding the Sudden Impact. Have you started up your own Worm Farm yet?
Happy Planting...

Re: Feeding of Roses
Can you use worm juice as a foliage spray at the same dosage as one would use when watering at the base of the plant?
Re: Feeding of Roses
what ratio are you using for the ground?

Re: Feeding of Roses
Paul, you can actually put 100% worm juice on any plant, so long as you do it late in the day and no sun.......but it would be a lot of waste to do that for little gain.....

Re: Feeding of Roses
Ok thats good to know, good to know it won't harm them, I guess you would feed them every 4-6 weeks. Does anyone know how long worm juice will keep in a bottle, undiluted?

Sue, As luck will have it I was speaking to our accountant yesterday and she was telling me that she & her father have stored Worm Juice in 3 Lt Milk Containers for months.

Re: Feeding of Roses
They are useful little Buggers aren't they. So pleased I decided to start my Worms Farms and have had them now for around 3 years. I did my Back Rose Garden this morning, so I am sure they will be saying Thank You.
So Spoiled aren't they....

Re: Feeding of Roses
Thanks Gang! Dianne, I actually have mine in 2 Lt. milk containers and I am keeping them out of sunlight too. Am amazed it will keep for that long Dennis! I have absolute faith in your judgement so will not worry about it now!! Like you Dianne, I think a lot of us "spoil" our plants - my neighbour says my plants are better fed than him!! LOL

Re: Feeding of Roses
Now perhaps a silly question, maybe not. Can we love our Roses too much into an early grave or make them not perform as well as they should as they get older. Some of you experts who have been growing Roses for years might be able to clear that up for me. I know there are Roses that are 100's of years old but perhaps they have sent up suckers and truly not that old.
Can you Help me out Please????

Re: Feeding of Roses
In my case , the answer would be yes......roses move at their own speed ...not the speed we want it to move....we can make certain things move faster, but too much love can make it go backwards.....

Re: Feeding of Roses
To all on this topic that have posted, "love them to death" not in this garden. I might even prune mine this weekend, water them, feed them, what with I might ask.
. Carole has just said steak and chips.

Re: Feeding of Roses
I am so, so pleased that there is a pruning cut there, that is correct. (Sorry, Off Topic but I will add it to that Topic.) Now for Moon Gardeners, October is the time to Prune Climbers, Ramblers & Species Roses when they have finished Flowering.

Oh the humour in the forum!! Isn't it wonderful! LOLOL.
Seriously though - Neptune I think you have a point in what you say about too much love can make things go backwards. Moderation perhaps?!

Ozeboy wrote:Sorry, I don't have the patience to grow these massive bushes. Most of mine are in 200mm pots awaiting a buyer.
However I'm down sizing the nursery to put more effort into breeding and smelling the roses. Will be doing more custom bud grafting in the future at $7.50 per plant .
....
Ozeboy, Are you grafting rare and difficult to grow Australian roses? Do you ship to the UK?
